Welcome to Pinellas County, Florida – Home to some of the most beautiful and impressive waterfront communities in the United States.
The Good Life
Some people call it paradise; we call it home. Pinellas County is located on a 39 mile long peninsula with 35 miles of white sandy beaches. The sun shines 361 days a year with an average temperature of 71 degrees. Our 30 parks, over 50 golf courses and 587 miles of coastline make it a great place to play.
If you like pro sports we have the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (baseball) the Buccaneers (football), and Lightning (ice hockey). How about ballet, jazz, classical or Broadway at one of our world class performing arts centers? You can also explore the renowned Salvador Dali along with our other 36 museums.
Designed by nature, cultivated by man, Pinellas County is the paradise you too can call home.
Must Sees in Tampa Bay Florida:
The largest park within the Pinellas County Park System, this park consists of 1,136 acres made up of five interconnected islands. First opened on December 21, 1962, when the state toll road named the Pinellas Bayway was completed, this park was dedicated May 11, 1963, in perpetuity as a public park. Annual park attendance averages more than 2.7 million visitors. The 12-inch mortar battery, located at the fort for which the park was named, was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on February 7, 1978. Adding to the historical interest at Fort De Soto, two British breech-loading, rapid-fire rifles of 1890 vintage were installed in March 1982. Markers showing the original building locations and a Quartermaster Storehouse Museum, which opened in November 2000, add to the park's historic interest. Renovation and conversion of the East Beach concession building to a picnic shelter was completed in 1991. The new picnic shelter can easily accommodate 200 visitors.

The 34-mile long Pinellas Trail offers county residents and visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy the outdoors that is close to home, close to work and close to where you want to go. Grab your in-line skates, put on your jogging shoes or hop on your bicycle and head to the Pinellas Trail.
An average of 90,000 persons use the Trail each month. The Trail is a unique greenway corridor linking some of Pinellas County’s most picturesque parks, scenic coastal areas and residential neighborhoods. While traveling along the Trail, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy deep glades of ancient live oaks trailing Spanish moss, quiet waterways and tidal streams with all varieties of land and water birds. The Trail is a priceless haven in a busy, highly urbanized environment, where Trail-goers safely breeze along. The construction of eight overpasses allow Trail-goers to travel above traffic at busy intersections.
Trail amenities include bike racks and refreshment stops along the way provided by the Pinellas Trails, Inc., a not-for-profit citizen's group. The Guide to the Pinellas Trail is a convenient, pocket-size flip chart map for navigating the Trail. The guide details rest stops, service stations, restaurants, pay phones, bike shops, park areas and much more along the entire length of the Trail. The free Guide to the Pinellas Trail is available at the Trail office, area libraries and the Pinellas County Courthouse Information Desk and on the Internet.

Tarpon Springs is an authentic Greek fishing and sponge diving village, featuring Greek foods, shops, a museum, and sponge diving exhibitions.
Tarpon Springs is known as "the sponge capital of the world". In the 1930s, the sponge industry of Tarpon Springs was very prosperous, bringing in millions of dollars of sponges yearly. But in the 1940s, the sea sponge beds were contaminated and destroyed by bacteria, which led to a decline in the natural sponge industry. The industry was revived in the 1980s when healthy sea sponges were found. Now Tarpon Springs is back to being a leader in the world's natural sponge market. All aspects of the sponge industry take place in Tarpon Springs, from the harvesting of the sponge, all the way to the auctions that are held weekly at the Sponge Docks for the wholesalers.

From that spot run approximately 200 feet due north to run over ?THE WALL?. This is a group of 35-40 foot long pilings stacked to resemble a wall. From the buoy, head 900 feet north. From there, switch on your recorder and head due east or west. To the west you will find two pyramids and to the east you will find three.

Salvador Dali Museum (St. Petersburg Florida)
The museum ranks as one of the top attractions in Florida receiving the highest rating by the Michelin Green Guide - the only such attraction on the west coast to be so honored. Daily tours of the museum’s fascinating collection will educate, yet entertain you, about one of the 20th century‘s greatest artists, Salvador Dali. Bewildering double images and incredible paintings, sculptures, holograms an art glass will amaze you; and early impressionist-style paintings and melting clocks will delight you.
As an artist, Salvador Dali was not limited to a particular style or media. The body of his work, from early impressionist paintings through his transitional surrealist works, and into his classical period, reveals a constantly growing and evolving artist. Dali worked in all media, leaving behind a wealth of oils, watercolors, drawings, graphics, and sculptures, films, photographs, performance pieces, jewels and objects of all descriptions. As important, he left for posterity the permission to explore all aspects of one’s own life and to give them artistic expression. Whether working from pure inspiration or on a commissioned illustration, Dali's matchless insight and symbolic complexity are apparent. Above all, Dali was a superb draftsman. His excellence as a creative artist will always set a standard for the art of the twentieth century.

Clearwater Reef N. 28 . 00 . 57.0 W. 82 53. 42.0 . Clearwater, FL Clearwater reef is marked with one buoy in the center of the reef. It is the oldest of the county reefs, being established in the early sixties. Extensive construction of the high profile reefs has been carried out over the last two years. The best way to cover all the high profile structures is to use the buoy as a starting point. Switch to your chart recorder and head north, south, east or west on the reef. Also, there is a small barge in the middle of the reef.
Dunedin Reef N. 28 03 12.0 W. 82 54 33.0 Dunedin, FL 34698 The high profile structures can be found 1000 feet north of the buoy. Pyramids can also be found 1000 feet south of the buoy. Watch your recorder for the areas in between! This reef is especially well suited for the photographer armed with close up lenses and extension tubes.

Pinellas #2 Reef N27° 52.300´ W83° 11.240´ Air Mail Facility, FL This site is the home of the Blackthorn and the Sheridan wrecks. The Blackthorn is lying upside down and is broken in two parts. The Sheridan is lying right side up and is fully intact. You can dive into the compartments and see all the sections of the ship. It is in 75-80 feet of water and the top of the wreck is at 25-30 feet. There are a great many jewfish and barracuda that make their home here. There is also a barge just to the north of the marker that looks to be in good shape. The last time I was out during the summer of 1998 the buoy was in place.

To find our ?twin towers? start from the south buoy and head due north for two hundred feet. This will place you on a twin peak pyramid measuring about eighty feet long and fifty feet wide. The peaks of the pyramids are 18-20 feet high and the structure has a diameter of 95 feet. Other pyramids can be found 100 feet due east of the north buoy and on the southwest corner of the barge on the center buoy.

Welcome to Pinellas by Design
Pinellas County is a thriving community. The county is home to 35,000 businesses and has a population of over 940,000. However, over time, geography and population growth have combined to produce an unavoidable effect: the amount of developable vacant land is diminishing throughout Pinellas County.
The Pinellas community has recognized this shift and embarked on a unique redevelopment strategy to manage population growth, preserve quality of life, and foster business development. The redevelopment plan will preserve greenspace; enhance the quality of downtowns, public parks and recreation facilities; facilitate new construction projects; and renovate older commercial/industrial buildings for a variety of mixed uses.
Redevelopment is crucial to maintaining a vital and healthy economy. Local governments, communities, and businesses have united to create a comprehensive redevelopment strategy that will preserve quality of life, foster business expansion and job growth, and create mixed-use development that best utilizes greenspace.
Business Relocation
Looking for the perfect location to start or re-locate your business and a quality of life that includes a vacation sensation? Why not have both? You can - in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area. The Tampa Bay metro area ranks in the top 10 percent or higher of work and living environments in the U.S. and Canada and Pinellas County ranks #2 in the state for manufacturing employment, including electronic components and accessories. Pinellas County leads the 21-county High Tech Corridor - from the Gulf Coast to the Space Coast - with 34 percent of the corridor's medical manufacturing employment.
Transportation by land, sea (two nearby deep-water ports) and air (two international airports) give companies unprecedented market access to the world. Utilities and a service infrastructure are geared to business. Perhaps this is why more than 200 of the Fortune 500 companies are represented here.
The financial incentive package is even more impressive. Cutting edge competitiveness gets to the business bone - a taxation package built around "no": no state personal income tax, no corporate franchise tax levied on capital stock, no state-level ad valorem taxes, no tax on goods-in-transit.
