Many years ago in the great North West there lived an old but legendary lumber jack. This lumber jack could chop more trees than anybody else day in day out, week in week out, year in year out. Many came to challenge him but none could knock him off his throne.

One day a much younger lumber jack came along proclaiming that he would take the title and chop more trees than old man. I am younger, faster and stronger for God's sake. It's a no brainer. However, by day's end the old man had chopped more trees.

The next day the same young man worked through lunch, for sure this would make the difference. But by day's end the old man had chopped more trees.

The following day he worked though lunch and stayed an hour longer, to no avail the old man chopped more trees.

The next day he worked through lunch, came in an hour earlier and stayed an hour later, surely I must have beaten the old man today he thought. When he came in night fall had already set in and when the final tally was done, low and behold, the old man, again, had chopped more trees!

Beaten and disgruntled the young man approached the old lumber jack and asked the following question.

I am younger, stronger and faster than you. I come in hour earlier than you, work though lunch and work later than you yet you still chop more trees than I do, HOW CAN THAT BE? Simple the old man proclaimed, every once-in-awhile:

You have to stop and sharpen your axe.

There in-lies the secret to his success, and yours as well I suspect.
